Driver Ed Class
What does Wisconsin require for driver's ed?
For students under 18, Wisconsin requires 30 hours of "classroom" in person or online. Wisconsin also requires a minimum of six Behind-the-Wheel lessons in a driver's ed car with a certified instructor.
For students and adults 18 or over, driver's ed is not required but strongly recommended.
How long does it take to complete the online course?
The 30-hour online course is self-paced and allows you to work a maximum of 2 hours per day. It would be possible to finish it in 15 days, but most students take 4-6 weeks. We want students to finish the whole course within 90 days. There is a $30 fee to extend the course beyond 90 days.
Does the online course have to be completed to start behind-the-wheel lessons?
No. We encourage students to get their instruction permit or temps when eligible and start driving! You can drive with parents and take behind-the-wheel lessons with us before completing the online course.

You should be at least 14½ to sign up and start our online driver's ed course. We recommend starting our online course at 14 and nine months old, getting your temps right after turning 15 and driving with your parents for an entire year before getting your license at 16.

Behind-the-Wheel
How fast can I complete behind-the-wheel lessons?
This depends on your scheduling flexibility and instructor availability. You can take one 2-hour behind-the-wheel lesson each day and schedule all of your driving lessons in advance. You must have five practice days between lessons.
When can I start the behind-the-wheel lessons?
You can start driving lessons anytime with a valid learner's permit. We recommend getting 5 or 6 hours of practice driving before you schedule a lesson with us. You can schedule driving lessons on our website.
What safety equipment are your cars equipped with?
We use Toyota Prius Hybrid cars as our driver's ed cars. They are easy to drive and park, have a high safety rating, and are small enough that the instructor can reach the steering wheel to help with steering in an emergency.
Each vehicle is equipped with an instructor brake, instructor mirrors, and a student driver sign on the roof.
Do you offer home pickup and drop-off?
We normally have set pickup and drop-off points, as that works best with back-to-back driving lessons. If you need a home pickup or drop-off, please contact us.
For adults getting private lessons, we normally do home pickup and drop-off.
Can I request a specific driving instructor?
Our scheduling software lets you see all available driving lessons and who is teaching them. If your preferred instructor is open, you can select them for a lesson.
Will I have the same instructor for every lesson?
Our scheduling software lets you see all available driving lessons and who is teaching them. If the lessons are open, you may choose the same instructor for each lesson or try a different instructor.
Will I have other students in the car with me?
We typically take two students out on a lesson for two hours. Each student gets an hour of driving and an hour of observation.
Can I request to have lessons with a friend?
Yes, sign up for a drive with two open slots, and then have your friend log in and sign up for the same drive.
What if I need to cancel or reschedule my driving lesson?
Should you need to reschedule a lesson, you may do so by logging into your account on our website. You must cancel or reschedule at least 24 hours in advance to avoid a $50 late cancellation fee.
Can I use my own car?
No, our vehicles have safety features (instructor brakes, instructor mirrors, student driver signs, etc.) that are not in standard cars.
Do I need to have my own car insurance for behind-the-wheel?
No, you are covered under our commercial insurance during all behind-the-wheel training.
